China opposes plan to incorporate India into G-7 system
China has objected to US plans to merge India, Australia, Russia and South Korea into the G-7 system.
The G-7 is one of the major countries with the world's most developed economies. The system includes the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Canada and Japan. The G-7 conference, held annually, discusses issues related to the economy, security, climate change and global governance issues.
This year's G-7 summit has been postponed to September due to the threat of the coming Corona. Meanwhile, US President Trump plans to expand the G-7 system. Accordingly, G-7 has announced that it will expand into the G-11 system, incorporating India, Australia, Russia and South Korea. And Trump is calling for new countries to attend the G-7 convention.
At the G-7 summit, China has vehemently opposed plans to join India and Russia.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian in China said that the international organizations and conferences should be based on mutual trust and encourage different countries to promote world peace and growth. He said China believes most countries are in a similar situation. He said any attempt to counter China would end in failure.
