The Supreme Court of India has dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) that sought to cancel the government's relief measures for telecom companies. The court stated that these decisions are matters of policy and should be based on expert opinion. It also noted the importance of boosting broadband and telecom connectivity, especially in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the increased reliance on digital services. The court deemed the PIL without merit and stated that interfering at this stage would create uncertainty and jeopardize the policy.
